To those enrolled in ECS 158, Fall 2017: Are you interested in working on a research project? I will be offering 199/299 credit for a project related to our class, ECS 158. The project will mainly deal with MPI, one of the parallel computation tools we will study in ECS 158. This is Chapter 8 of our book, http://heather.cs.ucdavis.edu/~matloff/158/PLN/ParProcBook.pdf The project will use MPI via Rmpi, an R interface to MPI. You need not have prior exposure to either MPI or R. In terms of background, you will need ECS 60, and preferably ECS 122A. ECS 122B would be even better. But as with our course, the first and forement prerequisite for this research project is strong programming ability. Please contact me if you are interested. Norm
