Norm Matloff's H-1B and Offshoring Web Page
Some of Professor Norm Matloff's Writings on H-1B and Offshoring
(Note: Each of these articles was written at the invitation of the
publication.)
- My 2017 Huffington Post op-ed.
- My 2013
EPI paper. Also
my
related Bloomberg
op-ed (unfortunate title, not of my choosing).
- My
paper in the academic journal Migration Letters.
- Here is
another Bloomberg piece by me, urging Congress to NOT scapegoat the
Indian firms; abuse of H-1B pervades the entire industry.
- Here is my 2013
Barron's op-ed.
- My 2012 academic paper on the subject is available
here.
- I published an extensive academic paper
on the H-1B/L-1 issue in 2003 in the University of Michigan
Journal of Law Reform. At 100 pages and 300+ footnotes, this is the
most extensive study ever published on this topic. Click here to download the paper.
- Another article was the relation of H-1B to age
discrimination in the computer industry, published in 2006 in the
California Labor and Employment Law Review, a publication of the
California State Bar Association. Many people, even critics of the H-1B
program, are unaware of the fact that one of the primary reasons
employers like H-1B is that it broadens the young segment of the labor
pool, enabling employers to avoid hiring the 45-year-old, or for that
matter, 35-year-old, programmers and engineers.
