Chuck Grassley and Rep. Lamar Smith have sent a letter to the Cohen & Grigsby law firm, expressing their concern over the huge loopholes revealed by the YouTube videos. They also sent a cover letter to Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao. I've placed the two letters (as one set) in http://heather.cs.ucdavis.edu/GrassleySmith.pdf Note carefully that, unfortunately, the letters confuse H-1B with employer-sponsored green cards. But the two are highly related, as it has typically been the case that H-1Bs are also sponsored by the employers for green cards, and BOTH visas are abused. I made this point in my e-newsletter postings on the YouTube vidoes earlier this week, but it is important enough that I have posted a detailed tutorial on the visas at http://heather.cs.ucdavis.edu/Archive/H1BGreenCardTutorial.txt Again, keep in mind that BOTH types are abused, and I do NOT regard fast track green cards as an acceptable subtitute for H-1B, as some have proposed. Overall, though, it is an excellent letter, and Sen. Grassley and Rep. Smith are to be highly commended for taking action. By the way, also to be highly commended is Rob Sanchez for finding these videos. The content of the videos is material that people like Rob and me have known for years, but the videos dramatically make the point. If "one 'still' picture is words a thousand words," then one video is worth a billion. Norm
