KuaiXue Under Unix

If you are new to Unix, we have a number of Unix tutorials available. If you know basic Unix commands but need a tutorial on cxterm and Chinese computing under Unix, click here.

The Unix version of KuaiXue is called kxterm, a modification of the cxterm. To illustrate how kxterm works, let us look at a picture of a typical kxterm session, in which the user is reading Hua Xia Wen Zhai, the online Chinese magazine. The kxterm screen might look like this:

The screen looks identical to how it would appear under cxterm, except that under kxterm, the screen has some additional lines at the bottom.

What has happened here is that the student has clicked on the character ``ran2'' near the right end of the fourth line of Chinese text.
