The DOS version of KuaiXue, which we will refer to here as KX, is similar to kxterm (click here for an overview of the latter, which will double as your introduction to KX). The only difference is that KX works only as a file viewer, while kxterm acts as a full terminal.
To use KX, one needs either a Big5 DOS environment, such as that provided by KC, or an Hz DOS environment, such as ZWDOS. (At the present time, KX has a minor but annoying problem when run under KC. For some reason, occasionally a key must be struck several times to produce a response. For this reason, we recommend using ZWDOS until we fix the bug.) One merely starts up the environment, and then runs KX on whatever file is to be viewed.
The executable file is kx32.exe, which we have compiled using djgpp, a form of gcc which puts your PC's CPU into 32-bit mode. Don't worry if you don't understand those terms; just make sure the file go32.exe is in the same directory as kx32.exe. (Your PC must have a 386, 486 or Pentium CPU to use this program.)
